What if the desired destinations are not listed in the Hertz NeverLost navigation system? - While there are millions of pre-programmed Points of Interest, some customer destinations (newer hotels, recently opened restaurants, etc) require the input of their actual street address or a known nearby intersection.
How complete is the map used in the the Hertz NeverLost navigation system? - The Hertz NeverLost navigation system uses the latest digital navigable map available; the same map used in most commercial vehicle navigation systems. This map contains detailed coverage (all possible geographic attributes are present such as address ranges, one-way classifications, speed limits) for over 140 metropolitan areas in the United States and Canada.
Is the Hertz NeverLost navigation system able to recognize traffic jams or road closures and avoid such occurrences? - No. Technology which would allow GPS-based navigation systems to recognize and process real-time information, such as traffic accidents and back-ups, construction projects, and road closures is still in the development phase. Hertz is closely monitoring the progress in this area of technology and will incorporate it into the Hertz NeverLost navigation system as soon as possible.
What if I deviate from the instructed route path? - Within seconds, the Hertz NeverLost navigation system will recognize that the vehicle has strayed from the intended route and will quickly recalculate and provide a new route from the present vehicle location to the intended destination.
Once the Hertz NeverLost navigation system calculates a route to my destination, can I see a list of maneuvers, and/or scroll through the map to see how I will be routed? - Yes. Once the route calculation is complete, press the "VIEW" button to toggle between a list of generated maneuvers, the map on which your route is plotted, and a 3-D arrow signifying your first maneuver. Individual entries in the maneuver list are composed of three parts (from left to right): An icon representing the direction of the maneuver (left, right, U-turn, straight ahead), a decimal number indicated the distance to be traveled from the previous entry, and the name of the road segment for your next maneuver.
To see the route highlighted on the map, toggle to the map screen (using the VIEW button) and use the + key to zoom out (smaller scale), the - key to zoom in (larger scale) and arrow keys to advance (or follow) the route.
Does the Hertz NeverLost navigation system track the vehicle? - No. The Hertz NeverLost navigation system is simply a receiver used in pinpointing the vehicle's location on an internal digital map. It does not transmit information.
What languages are available? - Guidance is provided in ten languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, and Korean.
